Pursuant to our Listing Agreement, you are hereby notified that today the Board
of Directors of Ford Motor Company (the 'Company') has determined that the 2003
Annual Meeting of Stockholders of the Company will be held on Monday, June 16,
2003, at 1:00 p.m., Eastern Time at the Ford Motor Company Conference and Event
Center, 1151 Village Road, Dearborn, Michigan (copy of press release below).
Additionally, the Board fixed April 18, 2003, as the record date for the Annual
Meeting of Stockholders. The Company's fiscal year-end is December 31.
The Board also amended the Company's By-Laws in two respects. Article II,
Section 1 was amended to allow the Board to set a date for the Annual Meeting of
Stockholders other than the second Thursday of May. Secondly, Article III,
Section 1 has been amended to raise the mandatory retirement age for Board
members from 70 years to 72 years. Copies of the amendments are below.

RESOLVED, That Article II, Section 1 of the By-Laws of the Company is amended in
its entirety to read as follows:
ARTICLE II
STOCKHOLDERS
Section 1. Annual Meeting.
Unless otherwise determined by the Board of Directors, the annual meeting of the
stockholders for the purpose of electing directors and of transacting such other
business as may come before it shall be held in the City of Detroit, State of
Michigan, on the second Thursday of May in each and every year, if not a legal
holiday, and if a legal holiday then on the next day not a legal holiday. The
Board of Directors shall, by resolution duly adopted, fix the place within the
City of Detroit, Michigan, or elsewhere if so determined, the time, and the date
(if different from that described above) for the holding of each such meeting.
At least twenty (20) days' notice shall be given to each stockholder entitled to
vote at such meeting of the place, date and time for the meeting.
RESOLVED, That Article III, Section 1 of the By-Laws of the Company is amended
in its entirety to read as follows:
ARTICLE III
BOARD OF DIRECTORS
Section 1. Number, Term of Office and Eligibility.
Except as provided by the laws of the State of Delaware or by the Certificate of
Incorporation, as amended, the business and the property of the Company shall be
managed by or under the direction of a Board of not less than ten and not more
than twenty directors, the exact number of which shall be fixed from time to
time by resolution of the Board. Each director shall be elected annually by
ballot by the holders of Common Stock and the holders of Class B Stock voting as
provided in subsection 1.6 of Article FOURTH of the Certificate of
Incorporation, as amended, at the annual meeting of stockholders, to serve until
his or her successor shall have been elected and shall have qualified, except as
provided in this Section. No person may be elected or re-elected a director of
the Company if at the time of his or her election or re-election he or she shall
have attained the age of seventy-two years, and the term of any director who
shall have attained such age while serving as a director shall terminate as of
the time of the first annual meeting of stockholders following his or her
seventy-second birthday; provided, however, that the Board by resolution may
waive such age limitation in any year and from year to year with respect to any
director or directors.

FORD RETURNS TO ITS ROOTS FOR THE COMPANY'S 2003 ANNUAL MEETING
DEARBORN, Mich., October 10, 2002 - Ford Motor Company today announced that its
2003 Annual Meeting of Shareholders will be held on June 16, 2003 - the
company's 100th anniversary - at the Ford Motor Company Conference & Event
Center in Dearborn, Mich.
The 2003 Annual Meeting will be the 48th since the company went public in 1956,
and only the seventh to be held in the company's hometown of Dearborn, Mich.
'By holding our 2003 Annual Meeting on our 100th anniversary and in our
hometown, we give our shareholders the unique opportunity to participate in the
centennial festivities,' said Bill Ford, chairman and CEO, Ford Motor Company.
'We hope that June 16, 2003 will provide our shareholders the opportunity to
reflect on our many past accomplishments and create a vision for our continuing
success in the future.'
The 2003 Annual Meeting will be approximately one month later than in previous
years, therefore the company has extended the date for the submission of
shareholder proposals for inclusion in the 2003 proxy statement by about one
month, to January 3, 2003.
Additional information concerning the 2003 Annual Meeting of Shareholders,
including timing, location and admission information will be included in the
company's 2003 proxy statement to be mailed to shareholders in spring 2003.
