Letter to Company Announcements Office

Pursuant to our Listing Agreement, you are hereby notified of the following 
officer appointments and elections effective November 7, 2001.

- Roman J. Krygier, Vice President, Powertrain Operations, has been elected     
  Group Vice President, Manufacturing and Quality. Dave T. Szczupak has been    
  appointed Vice President, Powertrain Operations, replacing Roman J. Krygier.

- David W. Thursfield, Vice President (Chairman, President & CEO, Ford of       
  Europe) has been elected Group Vice President.   Mr. Thursfield remains       
  Chairman, President & CEO, Ford of Europe.

- Martin B. Zimmerman, Vice President, Governmental Affairs, has been elected   
  Group Vice President, Corporate Affairs.

- Bob A. Dover has been appointed Vice President, Jaguar and Land Rover.

- Joe Greenwell has been appointed Vice President, Global Automotive and Product
  Promotions and Associations.

- Joe W. Laymon has been appointed Vice President, Corporate Human Resources.

- Timothy J. O'Brien has been appointed Vice President, Real Estate.

- Hans-Olov Olsson has been appointed Vice President, Volvo Cars.

- Jim G. Vella has been appointed Vice President, Corporate Public Affairs.
