MORFA STADIUM DEVELOPMENT
The Morfa Stadium development moved an important step
forward with the announcement that the City and County of
Swansea has selected Miller/Ballast Wiltshier as the
preferred developer for the project.
The decision was taken by the Morfa sub-committee of the
City and County of Swansea with representatives of the
ninth floor (owners of Swansea City AFC) and Swansea
Rugby Club involved in the process.
'We were very impressed with the quality of the bids',
said Councillor Mike Hedges, Leader of the Council. 'It
was a difficult decision but we felt that the
Miller/Ballast Wiltshier team had the edge in terms of
design, experience, financial offer and the ability to
deliver.'
'This is excellent news for the Swans,' said Neil
McClure, Chief Executive of the ninth floor. 'The next
few weeks are exciting times both on and off the pitch,
we will continue to work with our partners in the Council
and the Rugby Club to deliver this flagship project.'
'Swansea Rugby Club is pleased to have been included in
this process and we fully support the decision' said
Geoff Atherton, chairman of Swansea Rugby Club. 'The
proposals are very impressive and we can now look forward
to a new state of the art stadium with confidence'.
