The issuer advises that the following replaces the purchase of own shares
announcement released on 20 December 2001 at 17:05 under RNS Number 0647P. The
cancellation price should have read 40p per share and not 41p as previously
announced. All other details remain unchanged. The full amended text appears

Fidelity Japanese Values PLC announces that the Company has today, 20 December
2001, repurchased 500,000 of its own shares for cancellation at a price of 40
pence per share. The total number of shares now in issue is 101,506,253.
