The Company was notified today that on Thursday 3 January 2002 Mr John William
Young Strachan Samuel exercised options under the Filtronic plc
Savings-Related Share Option Scheme over 16,250 ordinary 10p shares in the
Company at an exercise price of £1.20 per share. Following the purchase, Mr
Samuel's total beneficial holding is 455,459 shares.
