Pursuant to Section 198 of the Companies Act 1995 (as amended) the Company has
received notification from The Capital Group Companies, Inc., on behalf of its
affiliates, including Capital Research and Management Company that as of 20
July 2001, the total notifiable interest of The Capital Group Companies, Inc.,
in the ordinary shares of the Company is 2,249,600 being 3.06% of the issued
share capital.

Percentage holdings are calculated using an issued share capital of 73,439,315
ORD GBP0.10 shares
