Pursuant to Section 198 of the Companies Act 1995 (as amended) the Company has
received notification from M & G Investment Management Limited that on 9 July
2001, the total notifiable interest of Prudential PLC in the ordinary shares
of the Company is 11,052,731 being 15.05% of the issued share capital, as
detailed in the attached schedule.

Percentage holdings are calculated using an issued share capital of 73,439,315
ORD GBP0.10 shares
