FILTRONIC PLC: BOARD APPOINTMENTS
Professor Chris Snowden becomes joint CEO, sole CEO designate;
new Non-executive Director
The Directors of Filtronic plc ('Filtronic') are pleased to announce two
changes to the board.
Professor Chris Snowden, aged 43, currently the Director of Technology, has
been appointed Joint Chief Executive Officer with effect from 5 November.
Initially Professor Snowden's principal focus will be to establish high volume
gallium arsenide semiconductor manufacturing processes at the Company's
recently acquired facility in Newton Aycliffe, County Durham, England,
together with the development of integrated radio frequency front end modules
for cellular handsets. Following completion of these tasks, Professor Snowden
will become sole Chief Executive Officer. With immediate effect, Professor
Snowden will chair the Executive Board of Filtronic plc which is responsible
for operational matters within the Company.
Professor J David Rhodes, OBE, FREng, FRS, will continue as Chairman
concentrating on strategic direction, engineering and technical issues, as
well as being Joint Chief Executive until Professor Snowden takes up the sole
Chief Executive position.
Additionally, the board is being strengthened with the appointment of Graham
Meek as a non-executive director with immediate effect.
Graham Meek is currently a director of Beeson Gregory Limited, a corporate
advisor and stockbroker. He was formerly an executive director of Smith New
Court plc and a director in Wood Mackenzie & Co.
Filtronic's Chairman, Professor David Rhodes, said:

technical expertise and vision to the Company. In his role as Director of
Technology, he has brought together technology and engineering expertise from
several parts of the Company and is leading the Company's development in the
field of high volume gallium arsenide semiconductors. As Chief Executive
Officer, Chris will be able to lead the Company into yet more areas of
technology alongside existing capabilities to identify and create new product
and market opportunities.
Graham Meek's background in the financial community in the City of London,
particularly in the electronics business, brings new and complementary skills
to our board.
