             BUYS IN A FURTHER $12.50M OF ITS 10% SENIOR NOTES
                         AT A DISCOUNT TO PAR VALUE


Filtronic plc ('Filtronic'), a leading global designer and manufacturer of
customised microwave electronic subsystems, announces that it has bought in and
cancelled a further $12.50m of its 10% Senior Notes due 1 December 2005 at a
discount to par value.


The purchase of these Notes follows the announcement on 8 February 2002 that
Filtronic had bought $16.75m of its 10% Senior Notes due 1 December 2005 at a
discount to par value.


Filtronic has now bought in and cancelled a total of $29.25m of these Notes,
leaving $140.75m outstanding.
