                             Purchase of own shares

Following the completion of the disposal of its Wireless Infrastructure Business
announced on 16 October 2006, Filtronic has made the purchase of its own shares
as set out below. This will initiate the capitalisation of the share premium
account and facilitate the return of cash as approved by shareholders at the EGM
held on 29 September 2006 and as set out in the Circular sent to shareholders on
6 September 2006.

Date of purchase: 23 October 2006

Number of shares purchased: 576,965

Purchase price: 197 pence

Number of shares purchased for cancellation: 576,965

None of the shares are to be purchased and held in treasury.ENDS
