                         REPURCHASE OF ORDINARY SHARES

The Board of Finsbury Growth Trust Plc announces that on 21 December 1999 the 
Company repurchased for cancellation 176,570 of the Company's ordinary shares of
25p, representing 0.4% of the issued ordinary share capital, at a price of
200.0p per share.  To date the Company has repurchased 1,476,070 ordinary
shares, representing 3.2% of the original issued shares.
