REPURCHASE OF ORDINARY SHARES

The Board of Finsbury Growth Trust PLC announces that on 18 January 2000 the
Company repurchased for cancellation 250,000 of the Company's ordinary shares of
25p, representing 0.6% of the issued ordinary share capital, at a price of
197.0p per share.

To date the Company has repurchased 1,826,070 ordinary shares, representing 4.0%
of the issued ordinary share capital before the buy-back programme commenced. 
There are 44,173,930 ordinary shares remaining in issue.
