('FireAngel', the 'Group' or the 'Company')
FireAngel to supply UK Fire and Rescue Service for a further four years
FireAngel (AIM: FA.), a leading developer and supplier of home safety products, announces that it has been selected as one of the official suppliers of smoke alarms and associated products to the UK's Fire and Rescue Service ('UK F&RS') for the next four years, via a new framework agreement with the West Midlands Fire and Rescue Authority ('WMFRA'). This continues FireAngel's long standing relationship with UK F&RS and is the second time the Group has been included in WMFRA's supplier framework agreement.
WMFRA acts as the co-ordinator of suppliers for the whole of the UK F&RS, meaning all local authorities in the UK order their fire safety supplies through WMFRA. The new framework agreement, which begins in June 2021, further strengthens FireAngel's existing strategic relationship with the WMFRA and the UK F&RS.
Following rigorous price, quality and social impact evaluations by WMFRA, FireAngel and its products to be supplied under the framework agreement were found to meet or exceed supplier requirements. The products include the Group's stand-alone smoke alarms, heat alarms and carbon monoxide alarms; wireless Connected Homes smoke alarms, which are an increasingly key part of FireAngel's offering and central to its strategic growth plan; and smart homes technology, another growing focus for FireAngel, which sees data from homes uploaded to a Cloud based system that can then be used to assess risk.
John Conoley, Executive Chairman of FireAngel, commented: "Part of the UK F&RS's role is to assess UK homes that are vulnerable to risk and install appropriate fire safety measures. The fact that FireAngel has met the strict criteria to be a chosen supplier of fire safety products to UK F&RS is testament to the quality of our products and service. Our relationship with the UK F&RS is highly important to us and historically has represented between 5% and 10% of the Group's annual turnover, through the provision historically of mostly stand-alone alarms.
"We are seeing now a greater emphasis already on selection by the UK F&RS of our Connected Homes products and expect that emphasis to grow as the market moves further towards such connected technology. Connected Homes is an area in which we have invested in recent years and which is fundamental to our future growth strategy. Our pioneering technology can save lives and it is reassuring that this is being recognised by the leading UK authority, alongside the wider context of legislative direction towards its adoption."
