Press Release 19 August 2003
James Fisher and Sons plc ('James Fisher' or the 'Group')
Appointment of New Non Executive Director
James Fisher, the leading marine service provider, today announces the
appointment of Maurice Storey CB (60) as a Non-executive Director with effect
from 1 December 2003.
Until July of this year Maurice Storey was Chief Executive of the Maritime and
Coastguard Agency (MCA). He was appointed to this post in 1998, tasked with
combining two previous Government agencies into a single entity. His MCA
implementation is widely viewed as having had a major impact on the national
infrastructure for the Shipping Industry and greatly enhancing the safety
environment in which vessels operate.
Prior to his appointment to the MCA he held a number of senior technical
positions within the industry. These include directorships with Stena Line Ltd,
Sea Containers Ltd and the Chamber of Shipping.
Tim Harris, Chairman of James Fisher, commented:
'I am delighted that Maurice Storey will be joining us. He comes with an
enviable reputation from the MCA where he clearly excelled. Maurice's technical
knowledge is very complementary to our core skills and his experience within the
legislative environment is wholly relevant to our shipping operations for which
safety and environmental protection are paramount.'
