FRASERS GROUP PLC ("Frasers Group" or "the Company")
Frasers Group Commended by Tribunal
In March 2020, in response to the Covid-19 pandemic and for the welfare of everyone within the Company, Frasers Group sent home all colleagues who were considered vulnerable or who were over 60. This went above and beyond the Government guidelines in force at the time. Virtually all colleagues, including those in these categories received 100% pay during this period.
Frasers Group received an age discrimination claim in relation to this policy. The Company was committed to this policy decision as we fundamentally believed this was the right decision to keep our colleagues safe during the turbulent early days of the pandemic. We have recently received an extremely favourable and complimentary judgement from the Employment Tribunal relating to this case.
The tribunal has found that "the Company was justified in taking the particular steps in order to protect the health and safety of its employees" Furthermore the tribunal noted that the Company's "intention to protect the health and safety of vulnerable groups is to be commended"
During what was an incredibly disruptive period for all, we are pleased that the Tribunal has acknowledged the extra mile that the Company went to in protecting our colleagues. We continue to put the welfare of our colleagues first, always.
Ends.
