Frontier IP, which specialises in the commercialisation of intellectual property, is pleased to announce that its portfolio company Alusid has won a prestigious award for its SilicaStone, a recycled material created from recycled waste glass and ceramics which can be used for interior and exterior architectural applications.
At Mixology North, the main interior design awards event for companies based in the Midlands, North, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland, attended by more than 500 industry participants, Alusid's SilicaStone won Product of the Year - Surfaces. It was also shortlisted in the Environmental and Sustainability category.
SilicaStone has the feel of natural stone and being resin free is heat and fire resistant and UV stable. Made from 96% to 100% locally sourced recycled materials has a wide range of applications, including kitchen work surfaces and building cladding. In addition to being available in standard configuration, it can be custom blended or shaped to specification.
Neil Crabb, Chief Executive of Frontier IP, said: "We are delighted that Alusid has secured this prestigious award for SilicaStone at the Mixology North Awards, which is a showcase to architects and specifiers of the finest new building materials. It is all the more satisfying to have secured this mainstream award for a product which is manufactured from recycled materials, in a low environmental impact manufacturing process that produces zero waste, at a time when ethical sourcing is increasingly important for large corporations and public contracts."

Notes to Editors:
SilicaStone is a new material made from fused recycled glass and ceramics. Designed as a uniquely adaptable alternative to natural stone products for use as feature walls and interiors, SilicaStone can be produced in a number of attractive colours and shapes that offer new and exciting design possibilities for both interior and exterior projects.
An ethical alternative to natural stone, the ethical sourcing of natural stone is increasingly important for large corporations and for public contracts, but it should be equally important for smaller designers and for smaller projects.
