FUTURE TO LAUNCH BUSINESS 2.0
IN THE UK, GERMANY AND FRANCE
US EDITION TO BECOME BI-WEEKLY IN MAY 2000
The Future Network plc ('Future' LSE: FNET) the video games, home
computing and other specialist consumer magazines and online
publisher, today announces its plans to launch its highly
successful US Internet business magazine, Business 2.0, in the UK
in April 2000 and in Germany and France later in the year. Future
also announces that in response to reader demand, the US magazine
is moving from a monthly to a bi-weekly format with effect from
May 2000.
Business 2.0 is an award winning, international monthly
publication from Imagine Media Inc, Future's US business. It has
experienced unprecedented growth since its launch in the US in
August 1998. Current circulation is 210,000, an increase of more
than 30% since July this year, and the December issue, which is
the biggest yet at 336 pages, recorded a 300% increase in
advertising pages over the previous year. Within its first year,
Business 2.0 has won seven top magazine awards.
Commenting on the launch plans, Greg Ingham, Chief Executive of
Future said:
'Business 2.0 has been a phenomenal success in the US and has
tapped into strong demand from business leaders for information on
how the rules of business are changing in the Internet age. With
the explosion of interest in the Internet in the UK and Europe we
believe the time is right to unveil our plans for this magazine in
these territories. We are in the process of building the teams
that will produce the magazines in the UK, Germany and France and
will announce more detailed plans in the New Year. However, the
spectacular success of the magazine in the US provides an
excellent platform and model for us to follow in Europe.'
Business 2.0 is written for leaders in the business and financial
community who are shaping the way companies will function and
compete effectively in the Internet Age. Each month, Business 2.0
provides these individuals with in-depth analysis of the impact of
the Internet on business and culture and offers ideas and
information needed to succeed in this fast changing environment.
