OMAGH GOLD PROCESSING PLANT COMMISSIONED
Galantas Gold Corporation (the "Company") announces completion of processing plant
commissioning at its wholly owned gold mine near Omagh, County Tyrone, Northern
Ireland.
The plant as commissioned consists of crushing, grinding and flotation circuits
that have a design capacity to produce sulphide concentrate containing up to
30,000 ozs of gold per year with associated lead and silver values. The plant is
now capable of operating at design capacity of 6 tonnes per hour. Sulphide
recovery has increased over the commissioning period and was recently estimated
at 82.03%. Concentrate quality has improved to an average of 115.8 g/t gold for
recent shipments but is variable. This compares with a grade of 144 g/t gold
produced in laboratory flotation test-work. Improvements are expected to
continue with increased operator experience and plant amendments.
Inconsistencies in terms of production quantity and quality are expected to
gradually reduce over the next quarter as the mine and plant settles into
routine operations.
Attention has now focused on the planned gravity section in the plant. Equipment
has been temporarily installed and has demonstrated ability to recover a
fraction of free gold for use as feed-stock for the Company's Galantas®
certified Irish gold jewellery. It has also demonstrated the ability to recover
coarse sulphides. Test-work is underway to expand gravity concentrate production
and enhance the capability of the plant.
Additional personnel are being hired to expand processing plant operation to a
24 hour day, 5 day week as an intermediate stage prior to expanding to a full 24
hour, 7 day week later this year.
Since the last trading update on May 23rd, 2007, three containers (numbers 9,10
and 11), containing a total of approximately 70 wet tonnes have been shipped to
Falconbridge Ltd., New Brunswick, Canada.
