GALLIFORD PLC
29 October 1999
Galliford plc
AGM Statement by the Chairman, Mr Richard Miles
'Current trading is good. Housing reservations for the first four months are
7% ahead of last year and we already have over 40% of our year's target in
hand. Our construction order book continues to improve in quality and we now
have over 80% of our 1999/2000 workload secured.
'The outlook for the construction industry continues to be encouraging with
the markets likely to grow by 1-2% per annum in real terms.
'I am pleased to report that Galliford has plans for substantial growth in the
next four years. We intend to increase housing completions by 50% at higher
average selling prices during this period. We also plan to increase
construction turnover by 75% with an emphasis on PFI, Rapid Transport schemes
and strategic alliances.'
Board Changes
As previously announced, Richard Miles, Chairman and Peter Galliford,
non-executive Director, retire from the Board at the conclusion of today's AGM
and Tony Palmer has been appointed Chairman of the Company.
