GALLIFORD PLC ('the Company')

Following  a meeting of the Company's Remuneration Committee held  today,  the
Trustees  of the Galliford Employee Share Trust made the following  awards  of
ordinary  shares of 5p each to the directors of the Company as set  out  below
under  the  terms  of  the Galliford Restricted Share  Plan,  which  plan  was
approved at the Annual General Meeting held on 28 November 1997.  These shares
will  be  held in trust by the Galliford Employee Share Trust and  will  vest,
subject  to  the achievement of the established performance criteria,  on  the
fifth anniversary of the award date.
