GALLIFORD TRY ACHIEVES FINANCIAL CLOSE
ON £192M EDUCATION PFI IN NORTHAMPTONSHIRE
Galliford Try plc, the construction and housebuilding group, today announced it
has achieved financial close on a £192 million PFI project for construction work
at 41 schools in Northamptonshire. The project is the largest education PFI
scheme in the UK to date with construction to be carried out over three years.
The scheme is an integral part of Northamptonshire County Council's transition
to a new two tier educational system, with new build projects amounting to 80
per cent of the workload, the remainder being the upgrading of existing
facilities.
Greg Fitzgerald, Chief Executive of Galliford Try, commented:
'We are delighted to be working with Northamptonshire County Council to improve
the educational facilities within the County. This project builds upon our
significant experience in education and highlights the importance of the sector
with Government expenditure continuing as it develops its 'Building Schools for
the Future' programme'.
