GALLIFORD TRY SECURES £58 MILLION PFI EDUCATION PROJECT
Galliford Try today announced it has achieved financial close on a PFI project
for Bedfordshire County Council to work on the Samuel Whitbread Community
College, Clifton and Harlington Upper School, Harlington. The project has a
total value of £58 million, of which £20 million of construction work will be
carried out over the next two years.
The work encompasses the demolition of some existing buildings, combined with
the extension and refurbishment of the two schools in order to meet growing
demand for places in the catchment area. The schools will be maintained for 30
years as part of the deal.
Having worked on numerous education projects, including the UK's first
multi-site PFI project for schools in Birmingham, Galliford Try has extensive
experience in effectively managing the construction process on the site of a
working school.
David Calverley, Chief Executive of Galliford Try commented:
'Galliford Try's expertise and understanding of the education sector enables us
to work closely with our clients to meet their objectives throughout the process
from project conception to delivery. We are delighted to have secured this
project which reinforces our partnering approach and our strong sector focused
