GALLIFORD TRY JOINT VENTURE WINS £32m OF WORK WITH YORKSHIRE WATER
Galliford Try plc is delighted to announce that Morrison Construction, in joint
venture with Earth Tech, has been awarded a £25.6million contract to upgrade
the Mitchell Laithes Waste Water Treatment Works for Yorkshire Water as well as
a £6.7million contract to construct new treatment facilities at the Lundwood
Waste Water Works near Barnsley. Morrison Construction Water is part of
Galliford Try's infrastructure division.
Both contracts have been secured as additional projects outside the current
framework contract for Yorkshire Water under its AMP4 programme. Earth Tech
Morrison is now the leading contractor by value awarded for such large schemes
having secured £55million of this type of business since April 2005
The Mitchell Laithes project, in the Spen Valley south of Dewsbury, forms part
of Yorkshire Water's strategy to improve facilities at the site so that it can
cope with greater flows and meet new effluent discharge standards proposed as a
result of the Freshwater Fish Directive to improve the quality of river water.
Work will start early in 2007 for completion by March 2010.
Greg Fitzgerald, Chief Executive of Galliford Try plc, commented:
