GALLIFORD TRY SECURES £31.5 MILLION A96 ROAD IMPROVEMENT SCHEME IN SCOTLAND
Galliford Try plc, the construction and housebuilding group, announces today that its infrastructure business in Scotland, Morrison Construction, has been awarded a contract by Transport Scotland to design and construct a new five kilometre section of the A96 to bypass the villages of Fochabers and Mosstodloch.
Valued at £31.5 million, the contract includes the construction of new single carriageway with overtaking lanes, two bridges and four underpasses.
The bypass will improve safety and significantly reduce congestion on this major trunk road connecting Aberdeen and Inverness, the principal access route across North East Scotland.
Greg Fitzgerald, Chief Executive, commented:
"We are delighted to have secured this major infrastructure project to improve an important part of the North of Scotland's roads network. Galliford Try has a strong presence in Scotland through Morrison Construction and this award gives us an opportunity to further demonstrate our technical expertise and strengthen our existing relationship with Transport Scotland."
Morrison Construction will now begin the detailed design in readiness for the start of construction work. When complete in spring 2012, the bypass will link the A96 from the west of Mosstodloch, crossing the River Spey and bypassing to the north of Fochabers before reconnecting with the A96 and A98 to the east of the village.
