     Placing of 2,186,680 new Ordinary Shares at 45p per share


The Company announces that it has placed 2,186,680 new Ordinary Shares with
institutional investors at 45p per share.

Application has been made for the new Ordinary Shares (which comprise
approximately 3.1 per cent of the Company's issued share capital) to be admitted
to the Official List and it is expected that admission will take place and
dealings will commence in the new Ordinary Shares on 18 November 1999.
