                       NEW HEAD OF BANGLADESH OPERATIONS                        

                                                                                

 

Asia Energy Plc (the 'Company') announced today that it has appointed Mr Gary
Lye as head of its operations in Bangladesh where it is developing a major new
coal mining project.
 

Mr Lye has been working with the Phulbari Coal Project as the General Manager of
Operations, based in Dhaka, for the past twelve months, and the Company said his
promotion was in line with moving the Project to the next phase of development.

 
David Lenigas, Asia Energy's Joint Managing Director said, 'Gary has the
necessary experience to take this exciting world class coal project through the
banking stage to mine start-up.'
 

Mr Lye has over 30 years' experience in the management of large-scale mining
projects having previously served as the Strategic Mine Development Manager at
the Kalgoorlie Super Pit Operations in Western Australia, for Kalgoorlie
Consolidated Gold Mines. His other major roles include Manager of the Mining
Research Laboratories for CRA in Perth, Western Australia, and 15 years at CRA's
Bougainville Copper Mine in Papua New Guinea.

 

Mr Lye takes over operational responsibility in Bangladesh from Mr Laith
Reynolds. The Company also announced that Mr Laith Reynolds has resigned as a
Director of the Company effective immediately. Mr Reynolds will remain as a
consultant to the Company and the Company thanks him for his work to date.
