Disclosure of beneficial interests in securities

LONDON, 6 SEPTEMBER 2021

In compliance with paragraph 3.83(b) of the JSE Listings Requirements, shareholders are advised that Gemfields has received formal notification from FIL Limited ("Fidelity") on 6 September 2021, that Fidelity disposed on 3 September 2021 of a beneficial interest in the ordinary shares of the Company, such that the total beneficial interest in ordinary shares of the Company held by Fidelity decreased from 10.99% and is now 5.99% of the total issued shares of the Company. Following the disposal, Fidelity held a total of 69,265,351 ordinary shares in the Company. Fidelity also holds 831,281 contracts for differences, the equivalent of 0.07% of the total issued shares in the Company. The number of contracts for differences remains unchanged.

The disposal was conducted as an off-market block trade and online share price services including the Financial Times reported the trade at ZAR 3.20 per share.
