GOVETT EMERGING MARKETS INVESTMENT TRUST PLC

The Directors of Govett Emerging Markets Investment Trust PLC (the 'Company')
announce that the two Special Resolutions put before an Extraordinary General
Meeting of the Shareholders in respect of the recommended proposals for the
reconstruction of the Company were passed today.  Information on these
proposals was set out in a Circular to Shareholders dated 28 February, 2001.

Further resolutions to effect the reconstruction are being proposed at a
second Extraordinary General Meeting being held on 5 April, 2001.  A further
announcement will be made after that meeting.
