                                  Board Change

Genus plc announces today that Tim Yeo will resign as a non-executive director
with effect from 31st May 2004. Since Mr Yeo's appointment to the Board in 2002
his political commitments and, in particular, his work in the Shadow Cabinet has
increased. Accordingly, he does not feel able to devote as much time and
attention to the Company's affairs in the future as he would like.

Genus plc Chairman, John Beckett, said: 'Tim has contributed strongly to the
growth of the Company whilst on the Board, for which we are most grateful. We
regret his decision to stand down but fully understand his reasoning.'
