               Disposal of HTSPE Development Consulting Business


Genus plc, a world leading animal genetics company, is pleased to announce the
disposal of the business and assets of HTSPE Limited, the Company's non-core
development consulting business, for a total cash consideration of £3.2m.

The business has been sold to a team comprising the Company's previous Finance
Director, David Timmins, and the existing managers of the HTSPE business.

For the year ended 30 June 2007, HTSPE Limited generated a turnover of £18.2m
and a profit before tax of £0.8m with net assets of £2.4m.
