                         Disposal of non-core business



Genus plc ('Genus') the world's leading animal genetics company, is pleased to
announce that it has made further progress in line with its stated strategy to
dispose of non-core businesses.


Genus has now completed, for a consideration of £1.02 million in cash, the
disposal of the small dental wholesaling business, which follows the divestment
of the veterinary wholesaling business, previously announced on 28th October
2005.


For the year ended 31st March 2005, dental wholesaling generated turnover of
£2.9million and an operating profit of £0.04million and had net assets of £0.8
million.
