Genus plc has been notified by Jupiter Asset Management Limited by a notice in
writing dated 14 December 2004, that it is interested in 3,531,521 ordinary
shares of 10p each in the capital of the Company, which represents 9.66% of the
ordinary shares in issue.

The said ordinary shares are registered in the name of Jupiter Asset Management
Limited, 1 Grosvenor Place, London, SW1X 7JJ, which does not hold any shares
beneficially, but holds them as an investment manager acting on behalf of
discretionary clients.
