                                Issue of equity

Application has been made for the admission to trading on AIM of 80,348 ordinary
shares of 10p each in Genus plc ('the Company). The shares have been issued
pursuant to the exercise of share options by certain employees of the Company
under option schemes for which no block listing arrangements are in place.

The New Ordinary Shares will rank pari passu in all respects with the existing
issued share capital of the Company.

Trading in these shares will commence on Friday 17th September 2004.
