                                Issue of equity

Application was made for the admission to trading on AIM of 10,000 Ordinary
Shares of 10p each in Genus plc ('the Company') on 30 September 2004. The shares
were issued pursuant to the exercise of share options by certain employees of
the Company under option schemes for which no block listing arrangements are in
place.

The New Ordinary Shares will rank pari passu in all respects with the existing
issued share capital of the Company.

Trading is due to commence in these shares on Friday 8 October 2004.
