Genus plc ('the Company')

Treasury Shares

The Company announces that today it has purchased a further 84,428 ordinary
shares of 10p each at 263.5p per share for holding as Treasury.

Today's purchase arises from 170 smaller shareholders. To date a total of 1,476
smaller shareholders, including today's transaction, have sold their shares in
the voluntary buy-back scheme.

The issued share capital of the Company is 36,561,542 shares including 690,947
(1.88%) Treasury shares.

For reporting purposes under section 198 of the Companies Act 1985 the market
should exclude any shares held in treasury and should use a figure of 35,870,595
shares.
