GLANBIA CONFIRMS NEGOTIATIONS FOR MEATS MBO.
16 January 2008, Glanbia plc, the international dairy foods and nutritional
ingredients Group, today confirms that it has entered into negotiations which
may lead to a transaction being concluded whereby the Group will sell its Meats
business to an MBO team, led by Mr. Jim Hanley, Chief Executive, Glanbia Meats.
This development is consistent with Glanbia's stated objective of focusing
investment on key growth areas - cheese, food ingredients, nutrition and
selected consumer foods. Glanbia Meats employs 850 people at four facilities and
at pig farms in Ireland.
