Ned Sullivan to leave Glanbia next June
John Moloney named as Successor
The Chairman of Glanbia plc, Tom Corcoran, today announced that Ned Sullivan,
Group Managing Director, has decided to leave the Company next June. 'Ned has
made a major contribution to Glanbia by putting in place the strategy and
structures to focus the Group for the future. Important initiatives to
address the challenges currently confronting the Group will be well advanced
by June 2001. With this in mind, he has decided that now is an appropriate
time to announce his intention to step down at that point.
'It is with great regret that the Board has accepted Ned's decision. We wish
him well in his future career and thank him for the clear focus, great energy
and superb management skills, which he brought to Glanbia. We are pleased
that Ned has agreed to remain on the Board as a Non-Executive Director until
the end of December 2001,' said Mr. Corcoran.
The Board has appointed John Moloney, Chief Executive of the Food Ingredients
Division, to succeed Ned Sullivan. He has been appointed Deputy Group
Managing Director with immediate effect. 'John has outstanding business
skills and a proven track record in the food industry. Within the Group he
has held top positions in Agribusiness and Food Ingredients and was a key
player in the expansion of Glanbia's interests in the USA. He also brings
extensive experience in managing relations with both shareholders and supplier
groups. These skills and experience equip him to lead Glanbia in the years
ahead,' said Mr. Corcoran.
Billy Murphy, Chief Executive of Consumer Foods Ireland, will be appointed
Deputy Group Managing Director of Glanbia when John Moloney takes over as
Group Managing Director next June.
Commenting on his decision to step down as Group Managing Director, Mr.
Sullivan said, 'The Board of Glanbia has embraced a strategy which will ensure
that the organisation will successfully meet the profound changes which are
taking place in many of the sectors and markets in which it operates.
Therefore, I believe this is a good time to announce my departure and to work
with the Board, my successor and my other executive colleagues in the months
ahead to ensure a smooth transition.'
