OFT announcement

20 September 2007 - Glanbia plc, the international dairy foods and nutritional
ingredients Group,('Glanbia') notes today's Statement of Objections (SO) issued
by the UK's Office of Fair Trading ('OFT') regarding the provisional findings of
its investigation into Dairy Retail Price Initiatives. One of the parties named
in today's OFT announcement is The Cheese Company Limited ('TCC'), a UK hard
cheese company now in the ownership of Milk Link Limited, which was owned by
Glanbia during the period under investigation.

The OFT investigation has been going on for some time, as has been noted in the
2005 and 2006 Annual Reports of Glanbia.

TCC and Glanbia will consider the SO carefully and TCC will respond in detail to
it. It should be noted that although TCC has received an SO it is currently too
early to conclude whether the SO will lead to the OFT's adopting a formal
decision against TCC, or to the imposition of any financial penalties against
it, in this case.

TCC believes that it acted in good faith at all times in relation to the supply
of cheese in the UK market.
