Application for Listing

Glencore Xstrata plc ("Glencore" or the "Company") announces today that an application has been made to the UK Listing Authority and the London Stock Exchange for a block listing of 15,000,000 ordinary shares (the "Issued Shares") of US$0.01 each fully paid in relation to the Company's Phantom Equity Scheme. Pursuant to the Phantom Equity Scheme, participants will become entitled to these shares following the vesting of share awards on 31^st December 2013.  The balance of the vested share awards shall be utilised from the Company's Employee Benefit Trust. The Admission of the Issued Shares to listing on the Official List of the UK Listing Authority and to trading on the London Stock Exchange's main market for listed securities is expected to occur at 8.00 a.m. (UK time) on 27 December. Listing of the Issued Shares on the Main Board of the Hong Kong Stock Exchange is expected to occur at 9 a.m. (Hong Kong time) on 27 December. Listing of the Issued Shares on the main board of the Johannesburg Stock Exchange is expected to occur by 9 a.m. (South African time) on 31 December.
