DataCash and Intershop in deal with ntl to provide
E Commerce solutions to small businesses
DataCash, a subsidiary of auxinet plc and a leading UK provider of internet
payment solutions, today announced a deal with ntl, the complete
communications company, and Intershop which will increase the rate at which
small businesses in the UK adopt e-commerce. The ntl new venture, called 'ntl
shopbuilder', provides a one-stop-shop for small businesses aiming to grow
their businesses online. 'ntl shopbuilder's' modular structure allows
customers to tailor a site to their exact requirements while utilising
DataCash's advanced software as its core credit and debit card transaction
processing engine. DataCash's payment technologies will be used by all
merchants wishing to add credit and debit card transaction capability to their
sites.
'ntl shopbuilder' overcomes the main barrier to companies looking to implement
e-commerce the complexity of integrating all the facets of an online offering.
This is harder for small businesses who sometimes lack the in-house
capabilities to run their own site. 'ntl shopbuilder' eliminates this
complexity so that small businesses can share in the online retailing
opportunity.
'Too often, the 'e' in e-commerce stands for 'effort'. With ntl and Intershop
we are taking that strain for 'ntl shopbuilder's' customers. Our payment
technology, together with ntl's profile and market reach plus the shopping
cart capabilities of Intershop, will allow thousands of new merchants to
realise the promise of the e-commerce revolution,' said Gavin Breeze, founder
of DataCash. 'We feel that ntl's decision to select DataCash for 'ntl
shopbuilder' offers an enormous opportunity for us to extend our market
leadership and underlines our role at the heartbeat of European e-commerce.'
DataCash and NTL
'Analysts predict the growth of e-commerce to reach £2.5 billion by 2005.
Businesses that embrace online trading now will gain a considerable market
advantage. In the past businesses have been reluctant to have a web presence
due to technical complexities and costs. ntl can now help its customers
create a virtual business where they can take orders, process payments and
manage customers very easily. This new offering may help businesses increase
their profitability and service delivery,' says Stephen Rowles, MD, Business
Solution, ntl.
