Sales Alliance Agreed with Retail Decisions
DataCash Ltd, a subsidiary of the AIM-listed auxinet Group, is the UK's
leading online payment solutions provider. DataCash takes the effort out of
e-commerce, making it easy to add credit and debit card transactional
capabilities to any web site, whatever the server platform, shopping cart
system or front end device - Internet, WAP, Call Centre, Kiosk or Interactive
TV. DataCash is approved by all major banks and credit cards and already
processes approximately 20% of all UK Internet transactions. It is able to
trade in more than 180 currencies and settle in 22. DataCash's clients include
blue-chip Internet players and dot.com startups such as Tiny Computer Ltd.,
Epson UK Ltd., and Breathe.net.
DataCash today announces that it has agreed terms for an exclusive alliance
with Retail Decisions to offer e-tailers a comprehensive, end-to-end solution
to the problems currently being experienced in the area of on-line payments.
DataCash's modular approach to secure e-commerce now incorporates
sophisticated screening techniques via Retail Decisions to ensure protection
against Internet fraud.
In a two year deal, DataCash, a leading internet payments solutions provider,
will offer, on an exclusive basis, Retail Decisions' fraud screening services
to its customers. Retail Decisions will promote DataCash as its own preferred
independent payment solutions provider. Retail Decisions has developed the
ebitGuard product specifically to prevent fraudulent payment card transactions
on the Internet and has already signed up a number of customers in the USA and
in the UK.
DataCash, which was recently acquired by AIM-listed auxinet plc, has grown
rapidly in the last few years, due to a combination of its innovative and
robust internet payments platform, coupled with its competitive
per-transaction pricing structure. Recent new customers include ntl:,
EasyRentacar, Ladbrokes, Littlewoods, Sporting Index, Victor Chandler,
Breathe.net, Halfords, Buyonet, Prudential, Epson and Sharp Electronics. Last
year DataCash saw 800,000 transactions through its system. Last month alone,
however, it handled half a million transactions and it expects that number to
reach 1 million transactions by January 2001.
DataCash and Retail Decisions have formed this alliance in response to
customer demands for an efficient and cost-effective system of payment
acceptance on the internet which also offers protection against fraudulent
transactions. Fraudulent transactions represent a serious threat to e-tailers
because, as with other 'card not present' (CNP) transactions where no
signature is obtained and the card is not physically present, the banks can
charge back any fraudulent or customer-disputed transactions to the retailer.
The threat of these losses represents a growing area of concern to e-tailers
and they are looking for protection from what can become a rapidly escalating
problem. Retail Decisions specialises in profiling transactions using fraud
detection and risk management techniques that identify and prevent
transactions that are highly likely to be fraudulent.
Nicolas Babin, Chief Executive of DataCash, added:
'With the explosive growth in online card payments being experienced by many
of our customers, the threat of online fraud is becoming a business critical
issue for many of them. In order to meet their needs, we have teamed up with
Retail Decisions to ensure that we have the best possible fraud prevention
offering. This is great news for e-tailers and bad news for fraudsters.'
Carl Clump, Chief Executive of Retail Decisions, said today:
'This is a very significant relationship for Retail Decisions. We are
confident that we provide the best e-commerce card fraud prevention system
currently available. Our link up with DataCash, who are one of the market
leaders in the payment world, will surely stimulate growth in both businesses
as we offer e-tailers a more complete e-commerce service'.
