Genesis Worldwide Inc. Introduces the Genesis Solution to Sochi, Russia Venue for the 2014 Winter Olympics
New Licensing Agreement Represents Major Opportunity for Genesis
MISSISSAUGA, ONTARIO--(Marketwire - Sept. 19, 2008) - Genesis Worldwide Inc. ("Genesis" or the "Company"),
(TSX:GWI)(AIM:GWI), an international provider of "green" structural building technology using light gauge steel
aimed at the residential, commercial and institutional building markets, is pleased to announce that, as stated
in the Company's press release dated August 6, 2008, it has entered into a license and services agreement (the
"Agreement") with Metallist Ltd. ("Metallist") of Krasnodar, Russia, a newly established subsidiary of Newforma
Corp., a construction company having the majority of its operations around the City of Krasnodar, in the
southern part of Russia.
This Agreement calls for the building of a new plant that will produce light steel paneled structures using the
Genesis Solution, which includes leading-edge software, industrial equipment, hardware, processes and
engineering services.
Under the terms of the Agreement, Genesis will earn initial revenue of approximately US$3.3 million from
licensing the Genesis technology, the sale of industrial equipment and hardware, and various training and
consulting services required for the commissioning of the plant. Genesis will also earn a minimum of US$3.0
million in royalty fees over the next five years. The term of this Agreement is for a five-year period and will
automatically renew for an additional ten years.
The target date for the commissioning of the new plant is February 2009. As part of its agreement with Genesis,
Metallist's exclusive territory will cover the regions of Krasnodar Krai and the Republic of Adgea within the
Southern Federal District of the Russian Federation. Metallist will maintain exclusivity as long as annual
minimum gross sales targets are achieved. Metallist is located in southern Russia on the Black Sea city of
Sochi, which is considered to be the "Florida of Russia", a middle class vacation spot with homes, hotels and
resorts.
Metallist Director, Alexander Kurganskiy, applauded the Agreement, stressing that it comes at an opportune time
for his company. "With the 2014 Olympics around the corner, we will be competing for major construction
projects," said Kurganskiy. "The expertise Genesis brings in terms of light gauge steel technology means we can
build and expand our market share by offering customers an efficient and economic alternative to wood. We can
now compete in the resort market and also build mid-rise condominiums and apartment buildings which will enable
us to compete much more effectively in the local commercial market. In addition, skilled labor is difficult to
find in Russia and utilizing automated offsite construction minimizes labor costs." Kurganskiy added that,
"Russian customers will value the use of light steel over wood as it is perceived to be stronger and safer
because of resistance to seismic activity."
Recent statistics from The World Fact Book, CIA, states that Russia ended 2007 with its ninth straight year of
growth, averaging 7% annually. The U.S. Dept. of State (September 2007 issue of Bureau of European and Eurasian
Affairs) stated that construction was the fastest growing sector of the Russian economy. "This growth trend
could provide a significant business opportunity for Genesis going forward," said Mag Mostafa, Genesis' Vice
President of Business Development.
"As the 2014 Winter Olympics will be held in Sochi, Russia, the demand for rapid, high-quality and
environmentally sound construction is increasing in the region," said Mostafa. "Genesis is now poised to take
advantage of this opportunity. Metallist will prove to be a tremendous partner, particularly in light of their
expertise in networking and their knowledge of the intricacies of working with the Russian government.
Importantly, they understand the North American building system, which will be invaluable leading up to the
Sochi Olympics."
Mr. Mostafa continued, "The Russian government is providing infrastructure including roads, water, sewage and
electricity. With land relatively inexpensive, using light gauge steel and the Genesis Solution will save
significant building time and provide Metallist with a savings of 40% over the current costs of building with
wood."
