17 July 2007
For immediate release 17 July 2007
Gooch & Housego PLC
NEW DIRECTOR of SALES JOINS GOOCH AND HOUSEGO.
Gooch and Housego, the specialist manufacturer of advanced optoelectronic
components, materials, instruments and systems has appointed a new Director of
Sales.
Paul Morris, a Physics graduate of Aston University, joins the company from
Bookham, the technology company who acquired Nortel's Optical Components
Division in 2003 where Mr Morris was European Sales Director.
He will spearhead the development of a new co-ordinated global sales team and
more customer-focussed sales strategy for the PLC's five complementary
subsidiaries soon to be re-launched as a single integrated business.
Gareth Jones, CEO of Gooch and Housego PLC, said: 'We are delighted to welcome
Paul and the experience and enthusiasm he brings. His arrival comes at an
exciting time for the Group and his understanding of the demands of technology
markets will be vital to our plans; to improve our business by combining the
core skills in our various businesses to both develop innovative new products
and optimise our client service'.
The Gooch and Housego Group currently have a truly multi-national components and
materials manufacturing base through their subsidiaries around the world; NEOS
Technologies and Cleveland Crystals in the USA; Landwehr Electronics in Germany;
Gooch and Housego and the recently acquired SIFAM Fibre Optics in the UK.
Bringing the combined abilities of these specialists to an increasingly
demanding world market will be Paul Morris' main focus.
When asked what it was about the Gooch and Housego position that attracted him
he said: 'Having successfully managed a European sales force, the opportunity to
not only manage but create a world-wide sales team was a real challenge. And
when I heard the ambitious plans that Gareth Jones had to transform the Gooch
and Housego Group, I knew it was an opportunity not to be missed'.
Paul Morris took up his new position on 9th July 2007 and will spend his first
few weeks travelling the world to meet with key clients, and the management and
staff of the various Gooch and Housego companies, in order to finalise his plans
to turn their business potential into a reality.
