Good Energy Group plc
Good Energy selected as preferred energy partner of the National Trust
Good Energy Group plc ("Good Energy" or the "Company") is pleased to announce that it has today signed an agreement to become the principal energy partner of the National Trust. The partnership allows Good Energy to offer its 100% renewable electricity tariff directly to over four million National Trust members, supporters and volunteers. It will last for an initial period of three years. This commitment represents a significant market opportunity for the Company as it seeks to achieve a growth target of combined customer numbers of 125,000 by 2015, from a current base of approximately 80,000.
The agreement was subject to a competitive selection process, in which Good Energy was chosen over a number of its competitors, including representatives from the Big Six energy suppliers. As part of the agreement, for each National Trust supporter who signs up to its gas and mains electricity tariffs, Good Energy will give up to £40 to the Trust, dependent on whether the customer signs up to a single or dual-fuel tariff. The Company will make similar contribution each year they remain a customer.
Good Energy will also provide practical expertise in assisting the National Trust develop renewable energy projects at its sites across the UK. Projects are likely to include wood-fired boilers to replace old oil heating systems, sustainable water power projects and solar power to generate green electricity. Through the partnership, Good Energy is helping the National Trust to meet its target to halve its use of fossil fuels by 2020, while also showcasing the benefits of renewable energy micro-generation and energy efficiency and encouraging visitors to the 300 National Trust sites nationally to consider their own energy consumption.
Juliet Davenport, CEO and founder of Good Energy, said:
"We believe that Good Energy shares many of the same values as the National Trust and its members. This partnership therefore provides us with an excellent opportunity to directly offer a significant number of potential target customers our market leading renewable electricity tariff and dual fuel offering.
"By providing practical expertise to the National Trust to help it meet its own objectives, we are also able to highlight the benefits of adopting renewable energy.
"We place a lot of emphasis on developing agreements of this nature in growing our customer base and we are delighted to have been selected and look forward to working closely with the National Trust and its members over the coming years."
