Good Energy welcomes Renewable Obligation support for solar projects
Good Energy Group plc (AIM: GOOD) ("Good Energy" or the "Company"), owner of Good Energy Limited, the UK's leading 100% renewable electricity supplier, notes today's announcement from the Department of Energy and Climate Change confirming Renewables Obligation support rates for solar installations, providing greater levels of incentive for the installation of solar projects in the UK than previously proposed.
Commenting on the announcement, Juliet Davenport, Chief Executive of Good Energy Group plc, said:
"Today's announcement is good news, and will ensure that the technology can play a leading role in our plans to develop 110MW of new renewables generation capacity by 2016. These rates will allow the establishment of large scale solar in the UK, and create economies of scale and efficiencies for years to come.
"Solar is increasingly one of the most cost-effective renewable technologies we have available to us. It's easy to deploy, popular with the public and the way it generates electricity compliments other renewable technologies such as wind. We can be confident that solar power has a sustainable future in the UK."
