Good Energy Group PLC continues the successful implementation of its growth strategy with planning consent for a 24MW solar farm in Dorset
Good Energy Group PLC ("Good Energy" or "the Group"), the fast-growing, AIM quoted renewable electricity supplier and generator, is pleased to announce that planning consent has been granted for a 24MW solar farm in Dorset.
Planning consent for this site was originally granted in November 2013 but the decision was subject to a Judicial Review. Good Energy is delighted that its latest application in respect of the site has been approved.
The site, at Mapperton Farm, near Sturminster Marshall, will generate enough electricity to power around 6,344 homes. Construction is likely to start later this year.
Juliet Davenport, OBE, Founder and CEO of Good Energy, commented:
"We already have six fully operational solar farms and we can now look forward to adding a seventh site to our portfolio.
"Each solar farm that gains planning consent offers the opportunity for more renewable electricity to be produced and supplied to customers here in the UK. This latest site will deliver benefits to local people through a community fund, and to the surrounding area via a tailored biodiversity plan."
