Grainger plc:  Transaction in own shares
 

Grainger plc announces that on 16 July 2007 it purchased through JP Morgan 
Cazenove Limited 400,000 ordinary shares of 5p each in the Company for 
cancellation at a price of 556.25 pence per share. Following this cancellation 
of shares the Company's total issued share capital (excluding 500,000 shares
held as Treasury Shares) will be 129,190,597.
