Transaction in Own Shares 

Grainger plc announces that on 10 September 2007 it purchased through JP Morgan
Cazenove Limited 250,000 ordinary shares of 5p each in the Company for 
cancellation at a price of 484.44 pence per share. Following this cancellation 
of shares the Company's total issued shares capital (excluding 500,000 shares 
held as Treasury Shares) will be 128,065,990.
