Great Portland Estates plc, the central London property specialist, announces
that John Whiteley, finance director, is to leave the Company by mutual
agreement.

Mr Whiteley, who has been finance director since 1995, has played a significant
role in the restructuring of the business and has decided that after ten years
in his current role it is time to pursue other opportunities. He has agreed to
stay with the Group until 31 July 2005.

Richard Peskin, Chairman, said: 'John has played a vital role during his ten
years as finance director of Great Portland Estates, and particularly in the
last five as the capital structure of the Company has been radically reshaped.
On behalf of the Board, I would like to thank him for his hard work and we all
wish him well in his future endeavours. On a personal note, I shall miss his
Yorkshire wit and grit.'

John Whiteley commented: 'I have thoroughly enjoyed my ten years at the
financial helm of GPE, and I leave it with its finances in excellent shape. The
transformation of the Group, carried out over the past five years, is now
complete, and this is the natural moment for me to take the opportunity to
pursue fresh challenges elsewhere.'
