                      BOARD APPOINTMENT
                                   
Mr. John C. Edgcumbe, aged 55, has been appointed as a non-executive
director of Great Portland Estates P.L.C. with effect from 2 August
1999.

Having previously worked at the British Rail Property Board, he joined
Hillier Parker in 1973, becoming a partner in 1975, and a director of
CB Hillier Parker in 1998.  He retired from CB Hillier Parker in April
1999 and is currently a non-executive director of Cromwell Land.
